The history of China concrete production goes back to 1982, only less than forty years ago, when China imported the first concrete boom pump truck from Japan. Decades of later, concrete pump truck manufacturers like Sanyi, Zhonglian and Haomei are exporting trucks around the world. In spite of this, what we are doing is only to reassembling imported parts of chassis, hydraulic pumps and booms. Take chassis for example, the most frequently spotted brands are foreign ones like Benz, Volvo and Isuzu etc. Why don’t concrete pump truck manufacturers adopt chassis of local brands, then?
Concrete boom pump trucks with chassis of foreign brands are more popular with clients. Upon buying a special vehicle with high maintenance cost, people would rather pay more money for a reliable pump than getting a cheaper one. In addition, concrete pump trucks have a high working intensity and a high attendance rate, and a good chassis can bring more benefits.
Concrete pump truck manufacturers prefer foreign brands, too. The choice of chassis is related to quantity of a pump truck and profit of a enterprise, and long-boom truck mounted pumps are more popular. The manufacturing of long booms requires extremely advanced technology. In terms of design, the pump truck needs a suitable power source, which can well match the hydraulic system of the top loading and reduce the failure rate.
However, users and manufacturers are not the only reason for popularity of imported chassis. The most important reason lies in the test of the market. Foreign chassis brands like Volvo, have been making continuous effort to strengthen their influence and still keep a close contact with the three major domestic machinery giants. Isuzu chassis technology is mature and perfect in domestic service; Volvo and Mercedes chassis have luxurious appearance, comfortable driving and high degree of automation. Diesel EFI technology is adopted, and fuel consumption is low. At present, the chassis used by concrete pump trucks meets Euro II or above standards, which can meet the requirements of large and medium-sized cities for vehicle emissions. However, in recent years, domestic concrete pump truck manufacturers have launched their own unique products, and many mini concrete pump trucks have gradually begun to use domestic chassis, such as heavy truck and Reza.
